Welcome to “Dili Diaries: Women’s Stories from Timor-Leste”

Listen in for interviews with inspirational women living in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste! These women share and shine in a myriad of ways – as mothers, daughters, activists, artists, friends.

Dili Diaries is a seven-part podcast series featuring women from all walks of life, including the country’s first Olympic flagbearer, the woman heading the country’s LGBTQI+ movement, and the director of Timor-Leste’s first feature film.

I had the privilege to get to know these women during the time I spent in Timor-Leste in early 2024. On this show, they have embraced the challenge of speaking in English to share their stories with the world. The use of the English language of course affects which women’s voices are, and are not, heard here.
